The Prompt Autos Test Centre is a DVSA approved MOT vehicle test station. The Prompt Autos MOT Test Centre is conveniently located in Bone Lane, Newbury, Berkshire.
MOT test is short for Ministry of Transport test.
An MOT Test Certificate is a document telling you that an MOT Test pass result has been recorded in the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency's (DVSA's) database of MOT Test results.
Every car driven on public roads which is more than three years old by law requires an MOT test each year, to ensure that it meets at least the minimum road safety and environmental standards.
MOT testing can only be undertaken by Department of Transport approved garages. MOTs are regulated by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
An MOT Test Certificate relates only to the condition of the components examined at the time of the test.
If your vehicle passes its MOT, it has met the minimum road safety and environmental standards set by DVSA and receives a pass certificate which lasts for 12 months.
The MOT test certificate does not confirm your vehicle will remain roadworthy throughout the validity period of the certificate.
The MOT Test Certificate records various information about the vehicle and test including registration number, vehicle Identification number (VIN), odometer reading and history at previous MOT's, as well as, advisory information about the vehicle.
The advisory information may include general mechanical or safety matter, for example tyre wear levels that will need your attention.
Bear in mind an annual MOT test is not a substitute for regular maintenance of your car of vehicle.
Apart from some specific exceptions (which we can explain when you book your MOT), do remember it is illegal to drive a car on a public road if the vehicle does not have a valid MOT certificate.
